Any house built prior to 1978 has a possibility of containing lead based paint in the home. When the paint is disturbed in the form of chips or dust, it can be toxic to humans – especially to infants. In 2010, the United States Environmental Protection Agency enacted the RRP Rule, which states that workers who perform any activity associated with the renovation, repair and painting of a home with lead based paint must be trained and certified in the use of lead-safe work practices.
